The page we were not hoping to use but, alas, it is so. Various injuries here and there so, without further ado, we shall begin.

ings
Danny Ings celebrating

Danny Ings suffered another injury set back a couple weeks ago when he injured his right knee in training. Having just returned from an ACL Injury that kept him out for the best part of this year, Ings was on the verge of breaking into the starting XI for Liverpool till this injury in his right leg put a sad stop to this. Jurgen Klopp said that Liverpool will stick by Ings through these troubled times as he was just hitting his stride and does look in the mould of a typical Jurgen Klopp No.9. We wish Danny Ings a speedy and safe recovery.

ojo-gomez
Ojo, Lovren, Gomez and Lucas

Sheyi Ojo and Joe Gomez recently returned to training after respective injuries to the pair of young England U21 Internationals. Sheyi had a minor fracture in his back which was causing him discomfort and has kept him out of action since late August. The quick and powerful winger will be looking to force himself into Jurgen Klopp’s attacking line-up but definitely has the ability to do so. Joe Gomez injured his ACL over a year ago and, during Rehab, he injured his Achilles which has kept him out of action since July. The young English CB is very unique in the sense that he can adapt to almost any position that is asked of him and this will be key for him and Jurgen Klopp moving forward as Klopp looks to give both youngsters a run out in the near future. Joe Gomez recently completed a full 90 mins in a behind-closed-doors friendly where he got an assist so it looks very promising for young Joe Gomez.

coutinho
Phillipe Coutinho

Phillipe Coutinho injured his ankle against Sunderland and it has been confirmed by Jurgen Klopp that he will miss the next few weeks with this injury. Coutinho was seen with a strap around his ankle on Monday morning where he went for a scan and it came back with not so good news. The estimation is 5-6 weeks lay off which has heaped more pressure on the remaining attackers that  Liverpool have to make up for the loss of the talented Brazilian International.

lallana-with-klop
Adam Lallana with Jurgen Klopp

On the positive note, it looks like, with Coutinho exiting the fray, Adam Lallana will be going in straight away. The England International suffered a groin strain and has missed the last 3 Liverpool games after picking up the injury on International Duty. According to Jurgen, “Adam is in a very good way, close to team training but that means in the same moment that he is not ready for the game.”  This being in regards to the recent Leeds match that Liverpool won 2-0 courtesy of goals from Divock Origi and Ben Woodburn.

sturridge-firmino
Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino

Prior to Liverpool facing Leeds, Sunderland were the visitors to Anfield and casualties occurred. Coutinho has already been mentioned but Daniel Sturridge was an absentee and Roberto Firmino also picked up the same injury as Daniel,a calf injury. Both had not trained prior to the Leeds game so they were both omitted from the matchday squad. Sturridge’s injury problems are well documented but he had improved a great deal under Jurgen. As of writing this, he has not returned to team training but it does not look like an injury that will require surgery or other means like that. Firmino is much along the same lines as Sturridge in the sense that it does not look to be a serious injury thankfully. Time will tell with both forwards. Firmino looks to be returning for the upcoming Bournemouth game so the injury may not have been as serious as first thought.

matip
Joel Matip

Joel Matip has also shaken off an injury scare that occurred vs Sunderland but he looks in line to be starting against Bournemouth as well. Seeing as Matip has been a pivotal player in  Liverpool’s improving back line, his appearance will be a huge boost for the Liverpool team.

With an already small team in comparison to rivals, these Injuries seem to be decimating the team even more so. We hope all the players mentioned above a quick and easy recovery. YNWA
