On this day in 2015 Jürgen Klopp’s Reds ran riot at Saint Mary’s.
In the Capital One Cup quarter final, Liverpool faced a trip away to Southampton. A tricky fixture in prospect though one to look forward to as the Reds away form was formidable, coming off the back of a 4-1 win at the Etihad against a shell shocked Manchester City side.
The match got off to a nightmare start, as then-Saints player Sadio Mané netted in the opening minute. Although from there it was one way traffic with Liverpool making it 3-1 before half time with goals coming from Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi. The Redmen added a further 3 in the second half with Origi completing his hat-trick and Jordon Ibe getting in on the scoring to complete the 6-1 rout.
