On this day in 2011 Liverpool signed 16-year-old winger Jordon Ibe.

After breaking into the first team at Wycombe Wanderers aged just 15 years and 244 days old, Liverpool took note and signed the promising young man, little over a week after his 16th birthday for an undisclosed fee.

Ibe made good progress with the Reds’ youth sides and was called up for his first team debut in the final game of the 2012/13 season, going on to set up Philippe Coutinho in the 1-0 win over QPR.

After spending a loan spell at Birmingham City in 13/14 and impressing during a stint with Derby County in 14/15, Ibe finally established himself as a regular squad player, although it would not be until November 2015 that he would score his first Liverpool goal, netting the only goal in a Europa League tie against Rubin Kazan.

Ibe went on to score a further 3 goals in the 2015/16 season; two in the League Cup and one in the Premier League. It was not enough for him to prolong his stay at Anfield however, and in 2016 he was sold to AFC Bournemouth for £15 million, ending his Liverpool career with a total of 58 appearances and 4 goals to his name.
