On this day in 2016 Serbian youngster Marko Grujić signed for Liverpool.

Signing for the Reds in January, but being loaned back to his parent club Red Star Belgrade until the summer, Grujić became Jürgen Klopp’s first official signing since he assumed the role of Liverpool’s manager in October 2015. Throughout the 2015/16 season young Marko Grujić helped Red Star to the Serbian Super Liga title, their third since its inception in 2006, making 29 appearances and grabbing a total of 6 goals.

Since officially joining up with Liverpool, Grujić impressed in pre-season competition, most notably scoring a sensational header in a 4-0 win over Barcelona at Wembley. However, despite an impressive pre-season tour with the Reds, he has only gone on to make 5 appearances in first team competition. Certainly an exciting prospect and should the young Serbian continue to work hard under Klopp he may well develop into an integral part of the Liverpool first team in the near future.
