On this day in 2013  Suarez notched his 15th goal of the season as Liverpool beat West Ham 4-1.

Going into the match just 3 days after dismantling Norwich City 5-1 at Anfield, the Red’s second home game of the week saw Sam Allardyce’s West Ham side come to visit. Anfield had been a fortress for Liverpool thus far, with Brendan Rodger’s men taking 18 of a possible 21 points from their games on their home turf. And their form on this day was as pristine as the fans had come to expect.

The scoring opened late in the first half courtesy of Guy Demel turning the ball into his own net after Jaaskelainen parried a Luis Suarez strike into the path of the right-back. From there it was all too routine for Liverpool with Mamadou Sakho adding to the scoring. A Martin Skrtel own-goal saw the potential for an upset however, this was soon snuffed out courtesy of a Luis Suarez brace. The result sent Liverpool second in the league just before a tricky trip to face Spurs and placed Suarez at the pinnacle of the Premier League scoring charts with 15 goals to his name.
