On this day in 2013 Liverpool thrashed Norwich City 5-0 at Anfield.
Matches between the Canaries and Liverpool are typically high scoring affairs and this was no different. Earlier that season the Reds beat Norwich 5-2 at Carrow Road, a match that saw Luis Suarez net his second hat-trick against the then-mid-table Premier League side. The return fixture at Anfield saw the Reds grab five goals once more against Norwich, all coming from different goal scorers.
Jordan Henderson opened the scoring in the first half before Luis Suarez struck against the visitors once again to make it 2-0. The second half saw Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard get in on the act before Norwich defender Ryan Bennett turned the ball into his own net to cap off a 5-0 win for Liverpool.
Beyond being an entertaining win for the Reds, Daniel Sturridge’s goal was his third for the club having played as many games, thereby becoming the first Liverpool player to score in his first three consecutive matches since Ray Kennedy scored against Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford in 1974.
