Gazzetto Dello Sport have linked Liverpool to a £30 million bid for Ivan Perisic. The 27 year old played under Klopp at Dortmund before he was offloaded to Wolfsburg. The Inter Milan playmaker had been linked away from the San Siro for a while and a £30mil bid could sway the Blue half of Milan to part with the Croatian winger.
Other suitors looking to secure Perisic’s signature include Chelsea and Manchester United who have taken note of his eye-catching performances in Serie A as of late.
As a versatile player Perisic would add some much needed depth to the Liverpool squad, most notably with the current absence of Sadio Mane while Senegal are competing in the African Cup of Nations. As a man capable of playing across midfield as well as up top as a striker, Perisic could be the remedy to some of Klopp’s recurring injury woes at Liverpool, filling in a multitude of positions as and when he is needed.
However, as a man with a £30mil price tag attached to him, Klopp may not be willing to spend so much money on someone who wouldn’t find his way into a fully fit starting 11.
As a result, it seems likely that if anyone signs Perisic in this window it’ll be either Chelsea or Manchester United as both financial juggernauts posses more buying power than Liverpool. Meanwhile, Liverpool have a tendency to be more cautious when entering the transfer market, meaning a reunion between Klopp and Perisic looks to be unlikely.
