On this day in 1985 ex-Red Mohamed Sissoko was born.

Having played under Rafael Benitez at Valencia, Momo Sissoko was reunited with the Spanish manager after signing for Liverpool in 2005. The Mali midfielder played an integral role in the Liverpool side between 2005-2008, anchoring the midfield and reinforcing an already great defence. Not known for his goalscoring ability, Momo only netted once throughout his time at Liverpool in a 2-0 win against Sunderland, that goal being the Reds 7,000th in league football. Throughout his three years at Liverpool Sissoko made a total of 84 appearances across all competitions, winning the 2006 FA Cup and reaching the 2007 Champions League final. Momo finally moved on to Italian side Juventus in 2008 for a fee of £9.5 million.
