Liverpool’s latest signing for between the sticks this season was Loris Karius from Mainz 05 for £4.7mil. The German keeper was voted the 2nd best in the Bundesliga after a stand out season before Liverpool picked the German up in Summer of 2016.

Slowly settling into Liverpool’s net, the German was waded into the firing lines of Liverpool’s poor defense and it seemed that blaming Mignolet for mistakes would be a thing of the past but the blame was just shifted on to Karius. For the first few games, Karius could not do anything about the goals he was conceding as they were defensive errors from point blank range but Liverpool were winning and that was what mattered in the end. But the goals being conceded were becoming more and more often as Liverpool’s goal supply weakened. Comfortable wins turned into scraping wins which turned into defeats. This culminated in a 4-3 loss to Bournemouth and Karius was moved out of net to make way for Mignolet. Stick or Twist?…

Stick: Liverpool should keep Loris Karius. The German may still be raw but he is someone who has the pedigree to do well and has age on his side as he is only 23. Errors may occur but he is someone that could slowly develop into a world class talent. David De Gea is inspiration for this as was Adam Lallana when he first arrived at Liverpool and now is a key player in Jurgen Klopp’s side. I believe that Klopp will turn Karius into a world beater…
