Liverpool only recently acquired the 31 year old Ragnar Klavan from FC Augsberg in this past Summer Transfer Window but the Estonian has been in and out of the team, having clearly been bought as a back up to the mainstay defensive partnership that is Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren. Recently, due to injuries to Lovren, one would assume that Klavan may be given a chance to prove his worth to the defensive lines but he has played second fiddle to Lucas who is a DM… probably shows the faith that Klopp may have in Klavan’s ability. So, stick or twist?
Stick… but depending on context: I would keep Klavan due to his experience as a player which could come in useful but only as the ultimate back up. There are a few players, in my opinion, who are ahead of him or should be ahead of him in the pecking order and this greatly impacts my decision, or rather, my opinion. 2 players who I will cover later in the series are head and shoulders ahead of Ragnar Klavan but he is someone who can be reliable when the time comes for him to start.
