The future of Liverpool’s defence, in my humble opinion. Joe Gomez was bought from Charlton with a bit of fanfare around him as he had some stand out performances at his previous employers. But, with Brendan Rodgers having lost faith with Moreno, he was thrown in at the deep-end by playing at LB. An injury cost him the chance to evolve as a player under Brendan and under Klopp but his return to fitness will only propel him into the first team with Liverpool’s defensive frailties being well documented.
Keep: Personally, Gomez and Matip should be the future of LIverpool’s defence, without a shadow of a doubt. The youngster has all the makings of a top class defender; Pace, Strength, Ball Control, Anticipation. He seems to be the full package at the moment and ill only get better when he gets more playing time in the first team. I am waiting for the day when he starts in the first team of a major game alongside Matip, just to show how good he is. Recently, Gomez signed a contract extension with Liverpool so Klopp is well aware of the boys talent.
