Liverpool having 5 centre backs and still conceding the amount of goals they do is quite worrying. Admittedly, Sakho is out on loan but it just seems as if we cannot find the right partnership and, when that partnership is found, one of the components is usually injured.

Joel Matip – Keep

For me, the person that Liverpool should build the team, or at least the defence, around and it seems that Klopp seems to think along the same wave length as well. The first signing Klopp made when taking charge of Liverpool, Matip has been injured sometimes but puts in solid performance. Getting a partner alongside should be priority for Liverpool come the Transfer Window.

Dejan Lovren – Sell

An overpriced liability, in my opinion. Someone who has a good season and then a horrendous season. Something that cannot be in the starting line-up. In his 3rd season and the routine is in the horrendous season now. Injured, making mistakes when playing (not as much as usual admittedly) but nobody is there to replace him as of yet. Selling him when he still has value would be best for Liverpool.

Joe Gomez – Keep

The future of Liverpool’s defence. To my knowledge, Gomez has played once alongside Matip and it was a clean sheet performance. The opposition on the day may have been Plymouth but the performance was solid nonetheless. Coming back from injury, the youngster has been nursed back to playing some game time and he could be starting for the first team sooner rather than later.

Ragnar Klavan – Sell

Someone who has played solid when asked of but he is someone that may not get game time and this may not be to his liking. As a backup, it can be argued that he’d be a good reserve to have but not if Liverpool want to be challenging on all fronts.

Mamadou Sakho – Sell

Going to keep this one short and sweet. Sell. Klopp doesn’t want him yet he wants to stay. He has a big value in the market so may as well get the most we can for him especially if he won’t be selected by the manager.
