Complete midfielders to play in the centre of the park is something that is unheard of the modern game. A player is either too attacking or too defensive. In terms of proper Centre Mids, Liverpool have 4 in the shame of Henderson, Wijnaldum, Emre Can and Lallana.
Jordan Henderson – Keep
Henderson has now found his niche and it is anchoring the midfield for Liverpool. Klopp has moulded him into Liverpool’s anchor and pivot which was unheard of at the time. Henderson, being captain, is someone who will be the first name on the teamsheet and, now, rightfully so.
Adam Lallana – Keep
Bar Mane, Liverpool’s best player this season. Lallana’s outstanding performances have been rewarded with a contract extension which he has now signed. Lallana could be argued to be one of the best midfielders in the League, he has been that good.
Georginio Wijnaldum – Keep
Someone who was an interesting signing for Liverpool as it was not obvious as to where the Dutchman was going to play but he has become one of Liverpool’s key players by quietly undergoing the job that is required of him. Goals against Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal have made him a keen goal threat in the big games.
Emre Can – Sell (at the time) but maybe Keep
Emre is a strange situation right now. Because he is good but does he warrant how much he wants? But to be a top club, we should pay top wages. Emre will become a world class talent but, by wanting more money, he is playing a very dangerous game with Klopp who has no time for people wanting to play for money.
