On this day in 1982 Liverpool beat Everton 3-1 in the 1st Division.

Following a 1-0 win against Sunderland Bob Paisley’s Reds faced a trip across Stanley Park to face local rivals Everton. Liverpool were the first to strike on the day as Ronnie Whelan opened the scoring on 21 minutes. The visitor’s lead didn’t last long however as Everton’s Graeme Sharp equaliser just three minutes after.

Going into the second half Liverpool proved to be the more dominant of the two sides and goals from Graeme Souness and Craig Johnstone netted for Liverpool, seeing the Reds run out 3-1 winners against the Toffees.
