On this day in 2010 Liverpool beat Sunderland 3-0.
Lining up against the Black Cats at Anfield, Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool were looking to keep their hopes of qualifying for Champions League football alive. The game got off to a perfect start as Fernando Torres scored in the opening five minutes to give the Reds the lead. Glen Johnson made it 2-0 half an hour later and the two teams went into the break with Liverpool leading.
