On this day in 2014 Brendan Rodgers’ title challenging Reds faced a visit from Tottenham Hotspur.

Going into the match Liverpool were given the opportunity to go top of the table, overtaking Chelsea in the process, however in order to do so they had to survive a contest against Tim Sherwood’s Spurs.

The match got off to a perfect start as Spurs skipper Younes Kaboul turned the ball into his own net inside the opening minutes and the Reds only build on their early lead from there. Red-hot Luis Suarez made it 2-0 on 25 minutes before Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson got in on the scoring seeing the Reds run out 4-0 winners and ascend to the top of the Premier League table.
