1978 saw the debut of one Sammy Lee on this day. This was a day of triple celebration for the debuting player as he debuted, scored and won against Leicester City. The Red rolled out 3-2 winners at Anfield as Lee’s goal was wedged between 2 Tommy Smith goals. The you gayer eventually went on to become a Liverpool assistant manager under Rafael Benitez but was an influential player durinG his tenure at Liverpool. 

As well as being a fantatic player on the ball, Sammy was known for being a very short player. Standing at 5’4, a low centre of gravity made him a force to be reckoned with as Liverpool continued to dominate the 70’s and early 80’s
