The day of the Ghost Goal and the transfer of a legend. Starting with the Ghost Goal, Luis Garcia’s controversial goal sent Liverpool theough to the final of the Champions League as they ran out 1-0 victors over Chelsea. Garcia struck in the 4th minute of the game as Baros was rolled over by Cudicini and Garcia flicked the ball over an oncoming Terry. Gallas seemed to have cleared the ball off the line but the referee gave it and the rest, as they say, is history.

Also on this day in 1971, Kevin Keegan was transferred to Liverpool, just a few days before Liverpool were set to play in the FA Cup final. Bill Shankly was sure he’d signed a player of exceptional quality and envisioned the winger running rampant down the right. He was right. Scoring 100 goals in 323 games and winning 8 trophies during his tenure at Liverpool, including a European Cup, Keegan wrote his name in Liverpool folklore.
