As per The Times’ Paul Joyce, Southampton defender and primary target for Liverpool, Virgil Van Dijk has stated that Anfield is where he would like to play next season. The Dutch defender has been at the top of both Man City’s and Chelsea’s transfer list but he has opted for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

Man City and Chelsea had stolen a march on Liverpool by willing to splash £60m and £200k a week on the Dutch CB but Liverpool are willing to match that in order to get Klopp’s main target. The 2 clubs are now in talks regarding a fee but the deal could culminate next week alongside Mohamed Salah’s imminent arrival.
